Give him his sword, you will feel better about yourself if you do. Besides, its not like you cant get one for youself. I suggest doing it solo to avoid things like that.

wow i can't believe so many of you are so willing to shaft Tank1 just because he's a stranger. This is why so many people are jerks - Internet anonymity.
Golden Rule, people, Golden Rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Simple like that.
I don't care if Tank1 is a completely noob stranger or your best friend, his drops go to him, period. Useless piece of junk or Icy Dragon Sword - I don't care. If it dropped for him, it's his regardless if it eventually became unassigned.
The only exception is if he quit the group and doesn't bother to contact you or someone else (sometimes players are forced to quit due to internet issues).

Ah if people jumped off a bridge, you would do the same?
Same concept.
In fact if people act like a jerk because "the other guy would do this to me anyway" this only encourages more people to be jerks which feeds the spiraling cycle.
Don't be part of the problem. Keep in mind the Golden Rule and act accordingly. You'd be surprised - some people do notice and change their behavior more positively.
I should know - I was one of those players who noticed some players being selfless and so on which inspired me to be the same best as I can.

I'd give it back, and if i was you maybe take a rez with you all the time.
In fact everyone should take a rez with them, or the chippmas elves will punish you.

Sigh, you treat others nicely, you get shafted by others.
You reason with them, they say "Your mom", like it even means anything.
Keep the sword. Like I said, he didn't pick it up, it is not any fault of yours that he died.

Listen to the evil within. Keep it and show no mercy
Nah its Christmas give it back
I certainly bet that if it was something of great value say a rare max damage sickle dropped for him, most of us will be corrupted by greed and keep it. I know i would

I'd keep it like the evil bastard that I am. However, I'd offer to go on runs with him and if one drops for me, give it to him.
But the morally right thing to do is give it back as he was unable to obtain the item during his set period time it was reserved for him. If he was able and didn't, it's yours.

I'll take that risk. Meanwhile I just feel bad for the rest who feel they're in a dog-eat-dog world. It's no way to live.

If you want to screw someone over, there are plenty of volunteers. Screw over the guy selling weapons in the Tombs. or the guy trying to sell black dye for 10k, or the guy that is ripping off newbs in Ascalon.
If you screw over the guy that agreed to go farming with you, then you are not a good farming partner, and I would never farm with you. I seriously doubt anyof the people telling you to keep the sword would farm with you, if they thought about it.
There may be a lot of internet security in knowing that you will never meet someone again, but it does not mean that you have the right, to be a complete dick.

It was assigned to him, give him the sword. Don't you think might be overestimating his crapness to justify you keeping the sword?
At any rate, when i play people always keep whatever drops for them.

I would offer to give it back to him as I believe it is his sword, it may turn out he has some already and tells you to keep it.

What if you are in a group, and nobody dies. Say, a black dye drops in the middle of the battle. Now, everyone is alive and can see the drop, and someone is excited about seeing on drop and then another person congratulates them on the good drop. Then a few minutes later, they remind the person to pick it up.
When the time comes and its available for everyone, is it fair game?

Are you serious? If you stole my drop and then made this offer, I’d tell you to stuff it.
If you think you’re being so generous by offering to help him get one, just give it back and get one for yourself.
At least you wouldn’t be stuck adventuring with an aggro junkie like him.

I completely agree here. The fact that you even posted here to ask should be all the indication you need. Give it back. Half the problem with GW is the community. Keep it a friendly place, spread a smile, we can only hope one good deed leads to another.
Please Don't listen to Yogi's Pain...ignore list...people like that ruin GW..IMHO
